Focus on... TPI
Established in 2006 in Stamford, USA, TPI is a unit of the Information Services Group, Inc. (ISG). Operating worldwide, TPI’s advisors guide and support organisations through the transformation of business operations, helping organisations to reduce operating risks, streamline complex operations, improve the cost of support functions and achieve process improvements.
However, in order to know which services are available to fulfill customer requirements, TPI’s advisors need to be aware of appropriate Service Providers and the services they provide. When known, TPI advisors will invite in appropriate Service Providers to bid for a particular piece of business, along with other potential suppliers.
However, the challenge for Service Providers is to secure the time of busy advisors in the first place to make them aware of a company’s wares. It is worth the effort though. Surely it is best to be on the radar screen of key advisors – and improve a Service Provider’s chance of winning business – than not.
Note that, to ensure fairness, TPI achieves most of its revenue from organisations that require advice and support, not the Service Provider community.

The Perception Audit
A Perception Audit is a snapshot in time that can be used to understand how a vendor / company is being perceived by the industry analyst community. Undertaken regularly (annually is best), the results of the Audit show how the perception of a company by analysts has changed over time. Thus, for Analyst Relations’ professionals, the Audit is a valuable informational tool and form of measurement.
As many analysts become especially busy towards the end of the calendar year - as they need to deliver all the publications associated with their research programme before the end of the year - a good time to undertake a Perception Audit is in the New Year. This is because analysts are refreshed after the festive break and usually amenable to taking part in a survey. Thus, undertaking a Perception Audit in January can mean that a comparatively high response rate is achieved.

Forthcoming training courses
Tue 11th Jan 2011 – 09:00-17:00 (coffee from 08:30 hours) – Public speaking: You can do it – Institute of Directors, 116 Pall Mall, London, SW1Y 5ED, United Kingdom - £495 + VAT per delegate
Whilst developing skills in public speaking can help anyone working in any part of an organisation or at any level of the hierarchy, it is especially important when communicating with the industry analyst community. This is because analysts are on the receiving end of many briefings so capturing and holding their attention and having the ability to tell a good story, to time, are key. Tips and tricks that are used in public speaking can be used effectively when communicating 1:1 too, via telephone or face to face. Above are details of our next training course but the training can be delivered cost-effectively in-house too. Classes are deliberately kept small to maximise practise time for delegates. The trainer is a Past President of one of London's oldest public speaking clubs and is a member of Toastmasters International, a US headquartered, not-for-profit organisation
devoted to the art of public speaking.
Over 1000 delegates – of all different nationalities and backgrounds – have attended this training course and all feedback received has been highly complimentary.
